The upcoming Windows 10 Redstone 4 update will bring significant improvements to the system, and Microsoft promises that the installation will take only 30 minutes. The development team achieved the fastest installation by reducing the time the installer connects to the internet, as they managed to transfer most of the processes after the system restart to the online stage. In other words, most of the installation process of the upcoming system will be completed before the system restarts, and everything will happen in the background, so the machine will need less time with the offline installation. However, according to the company, this will not be the case for all systems. Redstone 4 will be able to be installed in 30 minutes only on systems with compatible hardware. For everything else, you will need to connect online to complete the installation. Reducing the installation time is a project that Microsoft started working on before the development of the Fall Creators Update. In this update, the time after reboot was reduced by 38% and reached 51 minutes overall. With further optimizations in Redstone 4, the average time will be reduced to 30 minutes, 63% faster compared to the previous version. “Due to these changes, the online phase for the feature update of the operating system will take longer to complete. However, this will not be noticeable to most users of the operating system as the installation processes run at low priority. So they will not have a large impact on battery life or system performance,” Microsoft says in the insider blog. The Windows 10 Redstone 4 update is expected to be released in April.
