Technology and long working hours are leading to burnout among Millennials!

a medically accepted term, according to the World Health Organization's International Classification of Diseases. Its victims? Usually Millennials, due to technology and social media overload.

Millennials, or Generation Y, are the demographic group that follows Generation X. This generation, according to researchers, is those born from 1980 to the mid-1990s. Millennials are referred to as the children of the baby boomers.

burnout

The question is, how can millennials reduce the stress that weighs them down?.

2,010 millennials took part in a Lhasa OMS stress survey last June. The aim of the survey was to understand the impact of stress on everyone's lives, as well as methods for dealing with it.

The survey found that Americans work longer hours than other countries and therefore live with more stress than others. 78% of respondents said that their lives are more stressful than they were for previous generations. This is due, among other things, to the competitive market , but also to the extremely expensive healthcare. So it is not surprising that people who work an average of 42 hours a week show symptoms of burnout.

91% of millennials surveyed said that if they had higher earnings they would suffer from less stress, while they do not intend to stay in a job that is not in their field of expertise and does not offer financial security.

burnout

It is worth noting that millennials who have experienced burnout work at least 40 hours a week, more than Baby Boomers, those born between 1946-1964.

Unfortunately, there is a significant connection between technology and success at work, as to be honest in most cases one depends on the other. The issue is, how do we de-stress when we have virtually no time left. What is remarkable is that very few people take time to relieve personal stress and of those who do, 57% feel guilty when they do. Also, only 9% of respondents try to find time to get away from technology.

Because very high levels of stress and pressure have devastating consequences, often leading to strain on personal relationships, it is essential to find personal time both to unwind and to "detoxify" from incessant technology.
