SecNews invites you to the 9th Infocom Mobile & Connected World Conference

SecNews invites you to the 9th Infocom Mobile & Connected World which will take place on June 6, 2019 at the Divani Caravel Hotel. Don't miss it!

Just a year ago, the implementation of 5G networks in Greece seemed quite distant and most market players saw the capitalization of 4G as a priority. However, the race has already begun and the pressures from competition leave no room for complacency. Thus, at this year's 9th Mobile & Connected World Conference, our central theme will be 5G. Infrastructure, transition, applications and the evolution of society through the 5th telecommunications revolution will be in the foreground and the proposals of manufacturers and providers for the next day of wireless communications will be presented.

1stModule : Infrastructure – Building the 5G Network

First things first, as the Anglo-Saxons would say, and naturally the first section of the Infocom Mobile & Connected World Conference will be dedicated to the infrastructure that will support the development of 5G. Equipment manufacturers and providers will show the technologies for the transition to the new generation, at the same time that telecommunications companies have as their main goal to keep their financial results healthy. The main interest will therefore be the optimal cost-performance balance, in a new market where the second factor of the equation is not yet known.

The key word that everyone is waiting to hear is the expansion of the capabilities of existing infrastructure and how there will be an "invest as you grow" plan.

Although all three telecommunications providers have entered the game of 5G pilot applications, the commercial application goes through the regulatory framework and of course through another spectrum allocation competition. Will the more reasonable voices that ask the state not to implement the well-known collection policy towards providers prevail?

Thus, at the end of this section, having heard the proposals of the technology providers and the position of the regulator, we will now have a sense of the initial cost of the infrastructure and the expected pricing policies.

2nd Section: Economy – Building the 5G products

The initial infrastructure and spectrum costs may determine the costs, but the return on investment and future profitability comes from the applications.

There is a lot of talk about the 4th Industrial Revolution and Artificial Intelligence, but large ecosystems are made up of individual applications that communicate and interact in ways that we are still discovering, while of course generating value for both the provider and the consumer.

At the 9th Infocom Mobile & Connected World, we will see several of the proposals that will utilize 5G networks. However, we will not stop here, but we will try, in each application and technology that will be presented, to find how it will participate in the connected ecosystem and of course in the new Economy.

Of course, it will not only be new applications that will see the light of day through 5G networks, but the evolution of existing ones will be what will increase the added value for citizens and businesses.

And speaking of citizens and businesses, we get to the core of every ecosystem, which is none other than demand. Do we know if and to what extent our daily lives as consumers and workers will change with the adoption of 5G applications and technologies? Are we informed about what developments and upheavals we would expect, but also how willing we are to adopt them?

3rd Module: Smart Cities – Building the 5G Society

The 5th generation of wireless networks gives another boost to the movement of data between machines, since the response speed is almost instantaneous. Thanks to this feature we can truly make “everything connected” a reality. It will allow us to create a real ecosystem capable of going beyond the smartphone, revealing the piece of the puzzle for building true smart cities.

5G technology will be a key factor in connecting millions of devices simultaneously in highly populated areas. In addition, it will allow communication between these devices, creating infinite interaction scenarios. But there is much more to it. With 5G technology, Car2Car connections could be increasingly efficient and safe, thus allowing real-time feed-back on traffic conditions or accidents.

And of course, 5th generation networks came to change everything in the management of utility networks, where the speed of adaptation and reaction to failures and changes in demand is a critical factor for the efficiency and more economical management of resources.

Finally, a unified information environment in practice leads to the reproduction of a complete virtual reality, which can incorporate any type of information that would need to be displayed or managed.

Then we will essentially have a 5th generation society and we will be talking about a mixture of reality and its representation.
