Raspberry Pi isn't the only single-board computer maker. Other companies have developed their own small systems, and one of the most notable is Pine64. Now, its latest board, the Pine H64 Model B, looks like it will soon be available to everyone.
Pine64 unveiled the Pine H64 Model B in a blog post in January. It also shared previews of laptops, phone dev kits, and other devices. Now the Model B is available for pre-order on AmeriDroid, if you're a developer.
The Pine H64 Model B is an update to the Pine H64 Model A, which debuted in 2017. This version resembles the company's Rock64 single-board computer, making it compatible with Rock64 accessories.
Pine64 announced that it has equipped the Pine H64 Model B with built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities, following user requests. The company said it was planning three variants of the board based on RAM configurations: 1GB for $25, 2GB for $35, and 3GB for $45.
Pine H64 Model B: Features and Availability
The Pine H64 Model B page on AmeriDroid has revealed more information about its specifications. The model features an Allwinner H6 Arm Cortex-A53 processor (1.8 GHz), a dual-core Mali T-722MP2 GPU, and various connectors.
AmeriDroid apparently plans to offer two variants of the board: a 2GB version (price not yet listed) and a 3GB version ($48.95). The 1GB version is not mentioned.
The Pine H64 Model B is currently in development and is not recommended for non-programmers. (It is not possible to purchase it through Pine64 anyway, as all three variants of the board are “out of stock”).
“We will not be selling this product at this time unless there is a special request (for developers, etc.). Please send an email to orders@ameridroid.com to submit your request,” AmeriDroid states.
