Apple to release a credit card for iPhone users

AppleApple wants to launch its own credit card for users of its devices, which is said to offer a range of benefits, including some rewards when purchasing products from the App Store.

The company is working with Goldman Sachs to make this plan happen, according to a WSJ, and it is expected that the new credit cards will enter a testing program in the coming weeks.

Initially, only company employees will receive the new credit cards, but Apple hopes to bring them to market as soon as possible, possibly later this year.

The credit cards will be used exclusively with the Wallet app that Apple offers on its devices and will offer customers a small discount. There may also be some rewards offered. Apple believes that this could increase its sales in the App Store and, by extension, its revenue.

Possible start in September

Credit cards will come with a range of management options and users will be able to view their balance.

Both Apple and Goldman Sachs are still working on the project, with Goldman Sachs reportedly well into the process, with the latter reportedly preparing to set up customer support call centers. The new payment system appears to be ready, with the first employees of the company, who will receive the cards in the coming weeks, able to use them as part of a pilot program.

Needless to say, Apple is not revealing any details about its plans, but the company is expected to announce the credit cards in September, when it unveils its new iPhones. More details on this topic will surely be available in the coming months, possibly at WWDC this summer.
