If you share memes and chat with friends on Instagram, this news will really interest you. After an expert's investigation, Instagram is internally testing its direct messages feature on the web.

For those who are familiar with Instagram's relatively barebones interface, there's pretty much no way to get away from scrolling through your feed, checking notifications, or searching for something more specific. There's still no option to upload photos or share a story.
While Instagram has stated in the past that they have no plans to let users upload photos or stories from the desktop, other features are slowly coming to the web interface. Direct messages will be one such feature that will be added to the interface soon.
Discovered on Twitter by Jane Manchun Wong – the web interface that allows DMs will be a boon for iPad users . Instagram doesn’t have an iPad app, which makes the web interface the only alternative.

Instagram's internal test of the feature on the web comes as Facebook plans to merge WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram messaging. This makes sense for those who choose to rely on Instagram Direct and will therefore need some way to access it outside of the official Instagram app.
There is no official announcement on when the direct messages feature will be released for web users, but given that Instagram has remotely disabled the feature, an announcement about the new feature is expected to come soon.
