Google Play Music: There's an explanation for the 2019 music bug

Google Play Music: So far, Google Music doesn't seem to be a fan of 2019. Recently, a bug was discovered, as a large number of users faced an issue that prevented them from using 2019 music on devices and speakers. However, you should not be disappointed, as according to Google, a solution will be found for this soon.

Google Play

The reason for the error is still unknown, but essentially if someone tries to record a song from 2019 from an Android on a cast-enabled device, Google Play Music will try to connect before failing but will display an error message saying “music temporarily unavailable” and the app will not be able to play the requested stream. This in itself seems to affect content released in 2019, which has led some to believe that this is a music licensing issue. It should be noted that Google has not disclosed the reason so far.

According to some reports, the issue is localized to specific continents, such as Europe and India, although Android Headlines claims that it is only happening in the US and affecting a small number of devices, such as smart displays and Android TV devices. This means that there is not a small problem exclusive to the app but is affecting many users globally.

What causes the error in the Google Play Music?

Initially, the problem is detected every time the user attempts to play a recent 2019 song from the beginning or when a connection already exists between the application and the cast-enabled device.

For example, if you start playback on your smartphone first, once the song is playing, you will be able to establish a connection with a cast-enabled device and the song will play normally on the second device. What makes the error even worse is that if you try to change tracks to another 2019 song, you will encounter the same issue again. This means that you will have to disconnect, play it on your smartphone, and then reconnect it every time you change tracks. This also happens when the songs are in the same album. Alternatively, you can play older songs until the error is recognized by Google Play Music and addressed.
