Fitbit has launched a new pair of fitness trackers, called the Fitbit Inspire and Inspire HR. Both models are available through Fitbit Health Solutions to corporate customers who want to provide them to their employees as part of wellness programs. Both models offer fitness tracking features, such as heart rate monitoring, sleep monitoring, and come in a waterproof design.
Although the two models are visually similar, the Fitbit Inspire model is waterproof and has a battery life of up to 5 days, unlike the Inspire HR, which stands out for its heart rate and sleep tracking features. The regular Inspire model supports smartphone call, text and calendar notifications, and movement reminders.
Other features of the Inspire include activity and sleep tracking, calorie tracking, a touchscreen display and an optional accessory clip. The Inspire HR builds on the Inspire model, also offering over 15 exercise modes, real-time pace tracking and distance tracking based on a smartphone's GPS, as well as heart health information.
While the Inspire supports sleep tracking, the Inspire HR can track sleep stages, which include light, deep, and REM sleep. The features of both models are remarkable for a fitness tracker, surpassing some Fitbit models but falling short of others.
Unlike the Alta HR, Charge 3, and other Fitbit models, the Inspire and Inspire HR aren't available to consumers. Instead, Fitbit is offering them to corporate customers who might be interested in offering them as part of their wellness programs. That could include offices that want to help employees track their activity levels, insurance companies that provide incentives for reaching fitness goals, and similar programs.
