Brilliant, a Silicon Valley start-up, developed the first light switch to control smart home devices and has partnered with almost every major company except Apple. However, in recent days, things seem to have changed.
As of last night, the companies announced that “Brilliant Home Control” has integrated Apple’s HomeKit, giving consumers the opportunity to locate and control lighting connected to the small touchscreen of tablet , by speaking to Siri or the Home app of any Apple device. It should be noted that this announcement was made at CES 2019 in Las Vegas.
What is Brilliant?
Brilliant is working on a light switch that already appears to work with Alphabet's Google Assistant. It also has Amazon's Alexa built in and provides control over Sonos, Google Nest, and other smart home devices.
According to Brilliant CEO and co-founder Aaron Emigh, smart technology is becoming increasingly necessary for homes and it is becoming almost impossible to fill homes with many tables and similar items. This is exactly what smart technology comes to help with and in the future it will definitely provide many “smart” options.
For its part, Apple has had a better than expected start to 2019, having already partnered with Brilliant. Although Alexa is everywhere, Apple seems to be trying to gradually follow the same path with the aforementioned move.
