Apple officially released iOS 12.1 yesterday, after wrapping up its event, in which it announced the iPad Pro, a new Mac Mini, a refreshed MacBook Air, and the Apple Pencil 2 .
iOS 12.1 brings a few new features to the already existing iOS 12. The new additions include Group FaceTime, new emojis, dual sim feature, real-time depth control, and minor bug fixes.
Below you will see what's new in iOS 12.1
- Group FaceTime
You can now make FaceTime calls with up to 32 participants. This applies to both video and regular calls. Participants are displayed as icons, and active participants have larger icons.
- Real-time Depth Control
With iOS 12.1, iPhone Xs, Xs Max, and Xr users can adjust the depth of a photo in real time. This wasn't possible before, as users had to first tap on the image to adjust its depth.
- Dual Sim
The three recently released models of the phone became the first iPhones to feature dual SIM capability. iOS 12.1 brings support for e-SIM to the iPhone Xs, Xs Max, and Xr. Now, you can use two SIMs on your iPhone at the same time.
- 70 new Emojis
Apple introduced 70 new emojis with iOS 12.1. Some of the most popular emojis are characters with curly hair, food emojis like cupcakes and bagels, a red gift envelope, and hiking boots.
- BeautyGate fix
The iPhone Xs and Xs Max received a lot of criticism from users, as the beauty filter the company added made skin extremely smooth and unrealistic. In iOS 12.1, Apple has corrected its mistake and brought a solution to the issue called “BeautyGate”.
