Samsung an official announcement about the upcoming Android Pie update for Galaxy devices, but Samsung France has shared information about the changes the next update may bring.
Since Samsung is usually late when it comes to OS updates, it's likely that this pattern will continue with Android Pie. The information says that the update won't be released before January 2019.
But let's take a look at all the new features and fixes that will come with the Samsung Galaxy Android Pie update:
The latest Android update for Samsung Galaxy devices will bring some of the existing features of the recent flagships (Galaxy S9 and Note 9) to the older Galaxy S8 and Note 8.
One example proposed by Samsung France was the swipe to type feature, which automatically adds a space after typing a number.
The second SIM on dual SIM devices will support VoLTE and VoWiFi. This support is already available on the Galaxy S9 and Note 9.
Another major change is the Camera app. Previously, the user could access all camera images and videos stored in the Gallery through the camera.
This will change with the Android 9 update and only the most recent images and videos in the camera roll will be visible through the app. There is also the possibility of introducing a floating keyboard for gaming.
Another expected feature is the ability to read out the name and phone number during an incoming call. There could also be a new option to trim recordings and listen to a specific section of them from within the app.
There have been suggestions for other possible camera features, such as using the phone's flash in focus mode. This feature is also present on the Galaxy Note 9, and it will be exciting to see how many features from Samsung's latest Galaxy flagship are added to older models.
