Microsoft CEO on new US border policy

The CEO of Microsoft, Satya Nadella, decided to share his thoughts on the new border policy of the United States, publishing an internal email he recently sent to the company.

His main message was that, being an immigrant himself, he finds «harsh and abusive» this policy.

«America is a nation of immigrants that has the ability to attract people from all over the world to contribute to our economy, our communities and our companies», said Nadella.

«We are also a beacon of hope for those who need it most. This makes America stronger. We will always want to support immigration policies that protect the dignity and human rights of every citizen of the world», he continued.Microsoft

More than 100 Microsoft employees signed a letter earlier this week asking the company to end its partnership with the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency. The software giant earns about 19 million dollars from contracts with ICE.

Satya Nadella explains that although Microsoft has a contract with ICE, the company does not offer products that could contribute to strengthening this new border policy.

“I want to be clear: Microsoft is not working with the U.S. government on projects related to separating children from their families at the border. Our current cloud engagement with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) supports email , calendar, messaging, and document management workloads ,” he stressed
