T-Mobile employee arrested after 'stealing' nude photos from customer's iPhone

T-Mobile store manager Jesus Cardenas is charged with non-consensual dissemination of private sexual images and taking and concealing private property after he attempted (and partially succeeded) in sending nude photos from a customer's iPhone to his own smartphone.

An iPhone owner took her device to a T-Mobile store in Oklahoma City for repair, only to discover that some of her photos had been sent to a number belonging to the store manager.

The woman told police that even though Cardenas tried to cover his tracks and delete the messages from the folder he sent them, he discovered her photos on her Apple Watch that had been configured with her Apple ID.

The customer notified the police and discovered that the number to which the nude photos were being sent belonged to a T-Mobile store manager.

She deleted the messages she had sent from her phone. Luckily in this case she had her watch on which she showed that she had a record of those messages that were sent.

The T-Mobile store manager was taken into custody on Thursday, but has reportedly been released. T-Mobile, however, says it is already working with police to provide all the information they need about its employee.

The company has also launched its own investigation into the matter, but has not said anything about possible punishment or firing the employee following the incident.

While we're not going to discuss why someone would take a device in for repair with nude photos stored in the gallery, it's very clear that a significant percentage of smartphone don't take privacy seriously, despite manufacturers increasing their efforts to protect customers.
