Are there face search engines? Facial recognition combined with the surveillance cameras around us is a powerful tool that can be used to find you, at any time.
Search engines, meanwhile, are getting smarter at handling vast amounts of data. Face search and facial recognition are just a few of the many tools that target individuals. All of the public data is combined, and can quickly reveal where a person has been.
Below we will look at three face search engines. Let's see what they reveal about you or your friends.
1. Google Image Search. Reverse Face Search
Of course you know that you can search for images on Google. Instead of using a keyword, you can put an image in the search box to search for similar images. Click the camera icon to perform an image search. You can either paste the URL of an image or upload an image from your computer and Google will discover similar images for you.
Additionally, you can search for faces with Google by adding a code. From Google Image Search, enter your query, press Enter, and then add “&imgtype=face” (without the quotes) to the end of the URL.
Google also has facial recognition in Google Photos.
2. PicTriev – Facial Recognition
PicTriev goes a step further by searching for actual similar faces. Unfortunately, the feature is limited to celebrities.
Simply add the image URL or upload a photo in JPG or JPEG format, no larger than 200 KB, and the search engine will return celebrity images that exist online.
It works much better if you are looking for a celebrity image.
3. FindFace – Face Search for VK.com
VK.com is Russia's largest social network. And FindFace promises that it can find anyone on VK.com. To try this service, you need to have a VK account. Then you need to grant permissions to the FindFace app. Then you can upload a photo in JPG or PNG format that does not exceed 5 MB.
You can use filters on the initial result according to gender, age, location, and relationship status.
4. Betaface – Facial Recognition Demonstration
Betaface offers facial recognition similar to PicTriev. You can upload an image or provide the image URL, and the face search engine will isolate all the faces it can detect based on the photo you provided.
5. TwinsOrNot.net – Facial Resemblance
A similar engine to PicTriev, TwinsOrNot.net will calculate how similar two photos you upload look. This tool was developed by Microsoft.
