Smart City Chalkida: Chalkida is now showing the way to the "smart city", where pilot "smart" parking systems (Smart Parking), lighting (Smart Lighting) and environmental parameter measurement (Air Quality Monitoring) were installed and are operating, as well as a unified management platform. The project, jointly implemented by OTE Group, Cisco, KAFKAS and OTS, demonstrates in practice how the adoption of "smart" technologies contributes to improving the quality of life and everyday life of the residents of a city.

Smart City: "Smart" solutions for parking and lighting with a single management platform
The "smart" parking solution, in combination with the mobile application developed by OTS and available for Android and iOS devices, enables drivers to be informed about the locations where there are free parking spaces and how to get to them, as well as to be guided to another space in case the initial one is occupied. The application is expected to contribute significantly to reducing the time it takes to find a parking space and by extension to reducing traffic congestion and emissions. At the same time, it allows the Municipal Authority to manage parking spaces more effectively, having an overview of both the parking time of each vehicle and any parking that violates the K.O.K.
KAFKAS' SSL/LED smart lighting systems have replaced conventional lighting systems and have already contributed to energy savings of over 60%. Through their wireless management, they provide the ability to monitor and program their operation and maintenance remotely, as well as dynamically adjust lighting, aiming at maximum energy savings, safety and visual comfort for citizens.
The data of the "smart" solutions is collected, through network infrastructures, in Cloud infrastructures of the OTE Group and ends up in the Cisco Smart & Connected Digital Platform. The platform manages the "smart" solutions, as well as the integration, storage and visualization of data from the applications, through a single viewing environment (dashboard). The Smart & Connected Digital Platform has the ability to integrate more smart solutions in the future.
Smart City: Environmental parameter measurement system for a better quality of life
The environmental parameter measurement system, installed by OTE Group, uses high-quality sensors to detect harmful gases in the atmosphere and three types of microparticles. It will also measure temperature, humidity and atmospheric pressure. Thus, the Municipal Authority will be able to better plan and implement actions to reduce air pollution, improving the quality of life of residents.
