Galaxy Note 8 on August 26

Samsung is expected to unveil the new Galaxy Note 8 phablet on August 26 at a special event in New York, according to a Naver publication.

Many were expecting the event to take place at IFA in Berlin, which kicks off in early September. It seems the company has changed plans and will unveil the new Note model even sooner, according to Naver from South Korea.Galaxy Note 8

The Galaxy Note 8 is expected to feature a design similar to that of the S8 and S8+ models, although the most substantial change will be the addition of the S Pen plus and a dual-camera configuration reminiscent of the iPhone 7 Plus.

The biggest problem for Samsung, however, is the location of the fingerprint reader, mainly because the company is trying to integrate it under the screen, something it doesn't seem to have managed until the launch of the S8.

The South Korean company reportedly hasn't finished working on adding the fingerprint reader, so it decided to postpone its release. So with the Galaxy S9, it's very likely that we'll see this feature.

As for the Note 8, the device will feature a fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone. But compared to the S8, the Note 8's sensor will be placed in the middle of the phone for easier access, rather than next to the camera, as is the case with today's flagships.
