Windows Phone keyboard is coming to Windows 10 PCs

One of the new features of the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update is the improved touch keyboard, which was built using SwiftKey technology.Windows 10

At first glance, it appears that Microsoft is bringing the Windows Phone keyboard to Windows 10 PCs using some improvements to SwiftKey, the app the company purchased last year and currently available on Android and iOS.

While Microsoft has often been criticized for not bringing SwiftKey to Windows Phone, the company seems to have a different plan. It will combine SwiftKey with its highly advanced WordFlow keyboard, offering a powerful solution that includes accurate predictions and text corrections, while supporting faster typing.

A Twitter post revealed how the shake feature will be used on Windows 10 computers, confirming that Microsoft intends to create a similar experience with Windows phones.

The new feature could be called Expressive Input and will come with a stylus, meaning Surface users can also use the Surface Pen as an alternative.

The keyboard will most likely arrive in preview form in Microsoft's upcoming builds of Windows 10 as part of the Windows Insider program. On the other hand, the production team will be able to receive it with the release of Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, which is scheduled for September.

In other news, there's no word on other potential improvements to the Windows 10 Mobile keyboard as PCs are the focus of attention. The new touch keyboard is aimed at touchscreen devices, and given the rise of 2-in-1 PCs, Microsoft saw a good opportunity to improve Windows 10.
