Chuwi is one of the lesser-known Chinese companies trying to fight the big guys in the 2-in-1 market, and after launching several devices to compete with Microsoft's Surface, the company is now trying to go one step further with a model called the SurfBook.
Although its name might suggest that this new device is supposed to be a rival to Microsoft's Surface Book, as it includes dimensions very close to Microsoft's 2-in-1 device, we would say that it has several differences.
Posted on IndieGogo where it has already reached its $30,000 goal, the SurfBook will feature a 12.3-inch display with a resolution of 2736×1824 pixels. The device will also come with a pen with 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity, while Microsoft's recently upgraded generation features 4096.
A comparison published in the volunteer campaign shows that the screens of the Chuwi SurfBook and the Surface Pro 4 are almost identical, with the same dimensions and resolution, aspect ratio, and 10-point multi-touch.
As for the processor, Chuwi is said to be even better because it offers a 4-core chip that runs at a maximum speed of 2.2 GHz, while the Surface Pro comes with a 2-core processor with the same speed.
The difference is that Microsoft's Surface actually offers better performance because it's powered by Intel, while the Chuwi runs on an Intel Apollo Lake N3450.
The device will also feature RAM and a maximum storage of 128GB, while the battery will be a 10,000 mAh unit that should provide at least 8 hours of autonomy per charge.
Since the device has already reached its goal on IndieGogo, it shouldn't take long before it enters mass production, with Chuwi aiming to launch it at the end of June.
