Samsung launches Galaxy Wide 2 with 2GB RAM

Samsung has just unveiled a new budget smartphone in its home country of Korea, a device that sports some low-end specs, including 2GB of RAM and just 16GB of internal storage. The Galaxy Wide 2 is the successor to last year's Galaxy Wide, according to a report.

The Galaxy Wide 2 comes with a 5.5-inch HD LCD display with 2.5D curved glass and a 13MP camera on the rear with an f/1.9 aperture. On the front, the phone has a 5MP camera for making video calls and taking selfies.

Furthermore, it runs a 64-bit, 1.6GHz octa-core processor, coupled with 2GB of RAM and only 16GB of internal storage, with the ability to add an additional 256GB using a microSD. It runs Android 7.0 Nougat and has a 3,300 mAh battery.

It retails for around $266 at Korean carrier SK Telecom, while the price drops to just $89 after discounts. The Galaxy Wide was smartphone last year, so it's no surprise that Samsung is launching a successor. The Galaxy Wide 2 comes in two color options, silver and black.

The Samsung Galaxy Wide 2 carries the model number SM-J727S, the same as the Galaxy J7 (2017), but the design is quite different from recent leaks. In particular, the antenna lines on the back of the Galaxy Wide 2 and the overall design of the phone seem to resemble the Galaxy J7 Perx that Samsung recently launched on Sprint. Even the price is quite similar, while the specifications are the same.

The Galaxy J7 (2017) is the base variant of the J7 and is expected to feature a different design compared to the Galaxy J7 Prime or the Perx. It will also come in more color options, but the internal specs should remain roughly the same. Along with the Galaxy J7 (2017), the Galaxy J5 (2017) should debut soon, with lower specs compared to the Galaxy J7 or even the Galaxy Wide 2.
