After leaking a lot of information about the HTC U, the company has finally announced the official launch date for its new flagship. On May 16, the HTC U will debut at a special event in Taiwan.
In anticipation of the event, HTC released a short video highlighting the Edge Sense feature of the upcoming smartphone. Undoubtedly, the Edge Sense feature is the strong point of the new device as it allows you to gently compress the sides of the frame, triggering various actions such as taking screenshots or launching an app. While the feature facilitates access to various areas of the smartphone, it remains to be seen whether it will improve functionality or is just another gimmick.
Many details about the upcoming HTC U are already known including the fact that it comes with a 5.5-inch QHD display and runs on Qualcomm's latest platform, the Snapdragon 835.
The RAM capacity is 4GB and the internal storage memory is 64GB while Chinese consumers will have the opportunity to acquire an upgraded version with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage as the market is much more competitive with many phone manufacturers offering powerful specifications at affordable prices.
Additionally, the new smartphone will feature a primary 12MP camera, a secondary 16MP camera and will draw power from a 3,000mAh battery. Likely also in this flagship, as in many flagships of different companies, the 3.5 mm headphone jack will be removed, but it will offer IP57 certification for protection against water and dust.
Finally, Qualcomm 's QuickCare 3.0 fast charging and Bluetooth 4.2 will complete the new smartphone.
