iPhone 7 explodes and shatters into pieces while charging

Apple fans would do well to stop making fun of Samsung phone explosions and think twice before doing it again because another iPhone 7 just caught fire and the evidence seems to indicate it was because of the battery.

The whole incident happened in China where the iPhone owner Yin, from Suqian City in East China's Jiangsu Province, left the device charging on the bedside table and went for a walk.

Even leaving phones unattended no longer seems to be a good idea due to the dangers posed by overheated lithium batteries lately, the woman had only taken one step outside her home when she heard what she described as a loud bang.

"My phone was out of battery so I left it charging on my nightstand. I went out for a walk and heard the explosion when I got home. That's when I realized it was my phone," he reportedly said.

Fortunately, no one was injured in this incident and although the charger and cable may have been to blame for the explosion, there is only a small chance that this was the case. As you can see in the photos below, the explosion left a huge mark on the screen which indicates that the fire started in the battery with the most likely cause being overheating.

Overheating batteries have also been blamed for a series of explosions affecting the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, but incidents affecting Apple devices have been few so far and there is no confirmation that it is a widespread problem with iPhones.
