On Sunday, the New York Times published an article about Evgeniy M. Bogachev, describing him as “the world’s most notorious cybercriminal.” The NYT story included details about the hacker’s crimes, financial assets such as houses, cars, yachts, and photos of him that resemble FBI movies.
Bogachev , having embezzled millions of dollars from businesses around the world and taken control of hundreds of thousands of computers. The GameOver Zeus malware made him literally rich.
Bogachev, according to the New York Times story, is believed to be working with Russian intelligence. He was one of the people sanctioned by the Obama administration in 2016 in response to the Russian hacking scandal aimed at influencing the US presidential election.

In another photo on Twitter, he is seen holding a Bengal cat while wearing leopard-print pajamas and sunglasses indoors.
According to the article, Bogachev owns two villas in France and a fleet of cars parked all over Europe, so he never has to rent a vehicle on vacation. He has many luxury cars, but he prefers Jeep Grand Cherokees. He owns a yacht. He is extremely paranoid. He lives on the surface under his own name.
There is no extradition treaty between the US and Russia, and the Russians have no intention of cooperating with the US in this fight against hacking anyway, so Bogachev can continue to spend his vast fortune. There is currently a $3 million reward for Bogachev's capture.
