Samsung has already confirmed that the Galaxy S8 will not be presented next month at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017, and reliable sources leak information that state the presentation date as March 29.
According to Blass of VentureBeat, the upcoming Galaxy S8 devices will be very different from any previous models released by Samsung. Sources claim that these phones will have larger screens even than the Galaxy Note phablets.
Thus, the “standard” Galaxy S8 will feature a QHD Super AMOLED 5.8‑inch screen, while the model «Plus» will come with an even larger 6.2‑inch screen with the same resolution.
Both phones will come with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio. As reported by the newspaper The Guardian, the devices will have a double curved screen, so there will be no Galaxy S8 device with a flat screen.
Samsung will release different variants of the Galaxy S8 with Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 and Exynos chipsets, 10nm FET technology. These chipsets are said to be 11% faster than the Snapdragon 820 and 20% more energy efficient.
The 5.8‑inch S8 model will be powered by a 3000 mAh battery, while the larger device will come with a 3,500 mAh battery.
The RAM will remain the same, and both S8 devices will have 4 GB RAM, but the base model will include 64 GB of storage (expandable up to 256 GB via a microSD card). The upcoming S8 will feature a USB Type‑C port and a 3.5 mm audio jack.
The camera does not have many improvements as the Galaxy S8 will feature a 12-megapixel duo-pixel camera on the back, and a second 8-megapixel on the front (in contrast to the 5-megapixel it had on the front of the Galaxy S7).
The rear camera will have some additional features, such as the visual search option for information. This new feature uses OCR and will search the internet for information on the topics displayed by the screen.
