Microsoft has often been criticized for how aggressive it was with its free upgrade offer to Windows 10, with some reporting that the new operating system was installed on their computer even though they had declined the upgrade.
Chris Capossela, Microsoft's General Manager of Marketing, stated in the latest edition of Windows Weekly that his company really went overboard, pointing out that there were two very critical weeks when users began to repeatedly complain about the unexpected behavior of the new operating system.
“Finding the right balance that doesn’t cross the line of being too aggressive is something we’ve really tried to do this year.” I think we did the right thing, but there was one particular moment, in particular, when the red X in the dialog box disappeared and you couldn’t cancel the upgrade.
“And within a few hours of people’s messages, with the listening systems that we have, we knew we had gone too far. Then, of course, it took some time to develop an update that changes that behavior. Both of those weeks were quite arduous and clearly low-light for us. We learned a lot from that obviously.”
Honestly, when I read something like this, I can't help but throw insults, especially at Microsoft. But given the current situation, I'll keep my tone low..
