It seems like mobile phone manufacturers are starting to neglect customers who prefer phones with standard 5 or 5.2-inch screens. Samsung's Galaxy S series is built for those who want them, but the upcoming models may not be that small if the latest rumors are to be believed.
According to a new report, Samsung is planning to launch two Galaxy S8 variants, but neither will have a display smaller than 5.7-inches.
Such a large screen automatically puts the phone in the phablet category, so customers who don't want this type of phone may be inclined to start looking for alternatives from other mobile phone manufacturers.
In any case, the second Galaxy S8 is said to have an even larger 6.2-inch display. This one alone will come with a flat bezel-less panel, while the 5.7-inch version will feature a dual-edge curved display. They are known as the Samsung SM-G950 and SM-G955.
The same source claims that the Galaxy S8 will also feature stereo speakers, which may be from Harman.
As some of you already know, Samsung recently acquired Harman for $8 billion, which is why there are rumors that the South Korean company may use its audio technology in the Galaxy S8.
Apart from the fact that Samsung will launch two different versions of the Galaxy 8, both with large screens, there will also be two variants available based on the internal chipset.
Samsung could use the newly launched Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor in one of the Galaxy S8 variants, while the other could get the Exynos 8895 CPU built on 10nm FinFET technology.
Apparently all versions will have 6GB of RAM and will run on Android Nougat.
The company is expected to announce the Galaxy S8 at Mobile World Congress 2017, in late February, but details about the phone could leak out until then.
