Facebook has added a feature to Messenger. It's called 'instant video' and it lets you view and share a video feed with your friends while you're chatting.
Facebook already has video chat, and the difference with instant video is that you can send text messages as well as short video calls rather than full video calls.
Facebook says:
Sometimes you just want to ask a friend their opinion on a pair of shoes you want to buy, what flavor of ice cream they should bring home, or see their reaction to a witty message you sent when you're in a place where you can't talk face-to-face (like setting up a meeting without anyone hearing). Instant video lets you share parts of everyday life with the people you care about most.
So when you have a chat window open you'll see the video button in the navigation bar. Tap it to start a streaming video to show what you're doing in real time.
Meanwhile, your friend can choose to either simply watch the video or join in with their own stream. The video will appear in a small floating window.
