Philips 272B7QPTKEB: With hackers becoming increasingly inventive, user awareness of the potential dangers of webcam has increased. That's why MMD, brand license partner of Philips, is introducing the first Philips with a webcam that appears when needed and hides when not within the display frame.
The new 27-inch 272 B 7 QPTKEB monitor , expected to be released in August, combines this extra security with excellent performance: crystal-clear images with Quad HD resolution, ultra-wide viewing angles of IPS panel technology , ultra-fast USB 3.0 for faster data transfers, and PowerSensor technology for sustainable productivity.
More displays with pop -up webcams will follow later this year, such as 24-inch or UHD resolution displays.
Greater security for office webcams
Using a webcam has become a quick and easy way to connect with colleagues and partners around the world. For many professionals, a webcam is an important tool to ensure personal contact and enhance collaboration without having to travel. However, each webcam is like a window into the company. If compromised by hackers, it could theoretically be used as an unauthorized access point.
“ Knowing the potential security risks of new technologies, many users do not want to have their webcam pointed at their desk all day ,” says Albert Ulfman , Product Manager Philips Displays at MMD Europe. “The new webcam on the latest Philips monitor alleviates users’ concerns. The webcam pops up when needed for business meetings and hides when not in use.”
Like other Philips aimed at professional users, the new monitor comes with a number of unique features that enhance productivity. Measuring just 27 inches, it is compact enough to fit on any desk. The viewing area is maximized thanks to the ultra-thin bezel, which offers an even more immersive experience when viewing multiple displays simultaneously. The monitor features excellent image quality thanks to its Quad HD of 2560 x 1440 pixels – designed to extract maximum display clarity from high-bandwidth sources supported by the monitor, such as DisplayPort and HDMI. This monitor also supports the ability to connect multiple devices simultaneously using a single connection between two devices at a time. This cable arrangement, with a DisplayPort cable between each set of displays, gives a neater result. A key advantage of multi-monitor systems is increased productivity and seamless multitasking.
Sustainable productivity
The new 272 B 7 QPTKEB monitor is a prime example of MMD ’s commitment to sustainable productivity. The monitor features innovative sensors to keep energy consumption as low as possible. PowerSensor technology , for example, can detect when someone is at their desk and automatically reduce the brightness of the monitor when the user leaves it. This feature alone can reduce energy costs by up to 80% while also extending the lifespan of the monitor. Thanks to its BFR-free frame and its construction from 85% post-consumer recycled plastic , the monitor has rightly been described as a truly eco-friendly productivity tool.
The new Philips 272B7QPTKEB, with an indicative retail price of €629, will be available in major electronics stores from August 2016.
