Microsoft Edge Extension Toolkit convert extensions

Microsoft Edge Extension Toolkit: The new Windows 10 Anniversary Update brought support for extensions to the Microsoft Edge browser to those who weren't enrolled in the Windows Insider program for the first time. However, the number of add-ons available is very small.

According to the company, Microsoft Edge will be able to work with add-ons from other browsers as long as a developer works on the small changes needed to make the port.

Since developers don't seem to be that keen, the company has decided to release a tool through the Windows Store that allows them to quickly convert Google Chrome extensions to Microsoft Edge extensions.Microsoft Edge Extension Toolkit

The tool is called Microsoft Edge Extension Toolkit, and it is already available for download via the Windows Store.

Microsoft is aiming to develop ways that will allow Google Chrome extensions to be ported to Edge with little to no modifications at all, and this new app lends developers a hand in that regard.

At the moment, the app is still in its early stages and obviously needs updates, but it shows Microsoft's plans to make it easy to convert Google Chrome extensions to work in Edge.
