LG Mosquito Away TV the anti-mosquito television

What does LG have to do with mosquitoes? Last year, India's capital New Delhi recorded nearly 16,000 cases of dengue fever infections, the highest in recent years. The culprit: mosquitoes, which thrive and multiply in areas of garbage and stagnant water, common in developing countries.LG Mosquito Away TV

LG believes it can help its customers combat the airborne threat with a new line of new LCD TVs that feature mosquito-repelling technology.

The company explained in a statement:

“The LG Mosquito Away TV, developed according to the idea of Indian consumers, is equipped with an Ultra Sonic device that, when activated, uses sound wave technology to repel mosquitoes, without emitting harmful radiation.”

The mosquito repellent technology does not involve the use of chemicals. LG also says that the TV does not even need to be turned on to activate the Mosquito Away system. The new TV series is designed and manufactured in India.

The technology itself is not new. LG introduced it in a range of air conditioners in 2014.

LG's anti-mosquito TVs start at $400 for the 80cm model and go up to $700 for the 108cm version.
