MusicMap: Over time, we have seen many efforts by music fans to create a comprehensive timeline of the history and evolution of musical genres.
To date, however, no platform has achieved this as much as the impressive interactive MusicMap project.
Developed by Mr. Kwinten Crauwels, MusicMap is an interactive electronic encyclopedia that visualizes the origins and evolution of 200+ genres of music from 1870 to 2016!
Impressive?
However, what makes the website particularly useful and interesting is the variety of ways it offers its users to interact with the history of music. Let's see what it can do for you:
It can trace the origins of a particular musical genre, and by clicking on the genre you are interested in, MusicMap will immediately give you information about its origins along with a list of other similar genres and styles.
In addition, you can also navigate MusicMap with your mouse and use the scroll button to zoom in on the genres you want to learn more about.
Each genre of music presented by the MusicMap platform also has a playlist of classic songs, which allows you to easily and quickly discover new artists and musical pieces.
So far, the website features playlists of songs from Google's YouTube, but Crauwels says it will soon support playlists from Spotify.
Let's hope that soon, as the page administrator promised, we will see more additions to the impressive project.
