GNOME developers are preparing a completely redesigned UI of the GNOME Control Center application, which will likely be released with the upcoming GNOME 3.22 desktop environment.
GNOME developer Georges Basile Stavracas Neto has published an image showing the updated version of the GNOME Control Center application, which is used by default in many GNU/Linux operating systems, such as Ubuntu.
Linux fans know what the GNOME Control Center looks like right now, but as you'll see in the image below, that's all about to change with a completely new layout.
As you can see from the screenshot, the new GNOME Control Center design has a sidebar for navigating features, which are displayed with images and descriptions.
A first preview of the new GNOME application should be available in the coming weeks, as part of the GNOME 3.22 desktop environment.
Unfortunately, GNOME developers have not yet decided whether the revamped GNOME Control Center will be released in this cycle or the next, as this will depend on how far the project has progressed.
Hopefully we'll see it this cycle with GNOME 3.22 which will be released on September 21, 2016.
