The latest bulletin from the Ubuntu Kernel Team updates the Ubuntu community on the latest development work carried out in preparation for the upcoming Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus).
Canonical's Joseph Salisbury has published some news that will delight many fans of the operating system.
The upcoming Ubuntu 16.04 LTS was updated with the newest kernel currently available, on March 15, 2016. The developers managed to update the Xenial kernel to the latest long-term supported kernel (LTS), Linux 4.4.5.
“The Xenial kernel has been updated to version 4.4.5 and is available for testing,” the Ubuntu kernel developers said.
“Updates will be pushed out soon. Please check and let us know the results.”
In the newsletter, the Ubuntu Kernel Team informs that the final beta of Ubuntu 16 04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) (final beta means that from this point on no additional features will be added) is set for March 24th.
The final version of Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) will be released on April 21, 2016.
