Kiddle is a new search engine designed to protect children. You know that in addition to knowledge, entertainment and many other benefits, there is also a lot of garbage circulating on the internet, or files that can shock even adults.
Search engines usually have search filters by default, while the algorithm they use often removes inappropriate content from the results. But what if the person using the search engine is a child? No matter how hard the technicians of the major search engines try, the inappropriate content is present in the results and is visible to everyone.
Here comes Kiddle
Kiddle combines Google's safe search filter with controlled keyword blacklists that prevent inappropriate content from appearing.
So in case of searching for a term that is on the blacklist, the result returned is an error message:
“Oops, looks like your query contained some bad words. Please try again!” or “Oops, looks like your query contained some bad words. Please try again!”.
The service is sometimes overly restrictive in what is allowed and what is not. Search terms like “birth,” “death,” or “suicide” are blocked, and searches for “suicide prevention” are also blocked.
It should be noted here that inappropriate keywords or banned websites are constantly updated by the service. Kiddle also allows you to report a term, and as it states, it will take about one business day to review the request.
The service's privacy policy is very brief, simply stating that it does not collect personal information.
