Facebook Messenger for Android supports multiple accounts

A few days ago, there were rumors circulating that the Facebook Messenger app would support short SMS messages and multiple accounts on Android. Starting today, something changes.Facebook Messenger

Through an update to the Facebook Messenger app, it begins to support multiple accounts. The paradox is that while the company prohibits the creation of multiple accounts by one person, the instant messaging app supports it. It justifies this by stating that it is a feature for families who use one device to access Messenger.

So in the updated version there is a new setting called “Accounts.” From there, each user will be able to log in to their Messenger account. They can choose to require a password every time they use the app to send a message, or save the password (the account remains open and anyone can access it).

There is also a setting for when accounts are protected with a second password.

Please note that at least for now, this feature only exists in the Android app.

The company has not said anything about when (or if) it will be released for devices running iOS or for Web Messenger.
