Over the course of three years, from March 2013 to February 2016, photographer Alexander Chin created a beautiful timelapse video of the four seasons. All locations are located in Melbourne, Australia.
The title of his final thesis is: “The Four Seasons of Melbourne.”
Chin found himself in specific areas of Melbourne where there are deciduous trees (those that shed their leaves annually), so there will be significant changes in the color and weather conditions of his photos. For the timelapse video you will see, Chin collected 14,000 photos
The camera was not permanently positioned in the same place for 3 years. Chin noted the exact position of the tripod, the angle of the tripod leg and head, his camera settings, and the center of focus for the photos.
Despite some challenges (ground shifting, work being done on the tripod in between, etc.), Chin's dedication to this project ultimately paid off. See the result below:
