Orizuru The 31 gram paper drone

A Japanese company has unveiled a unique drone design: At a recent Tokyo trade show, LAPIS Semiconductor unveiled the Orizuru, an unmanned aerial vehicle that resembles a paper crane and comes with controllers for remote control.orizuru

As mentioned above, the crane is made mainly of paper and weighs just 31 grams.

Its body consists of a 3D-printed skeleton of nylon and layers of paper. It took the makers three months to design, build, and integrate the LAPIS microcomputer.

The Lazurite Fly microcomputer is claimed to be 90 percent more energy efficient than its competitors (such as the Arduino) and is about the size of an SD card.

According to the company, the Orizuru plans will soon be released to the public so that drone enthusiasts can build it themselves.
