Microsoft recently released Microsoft Office 2016. The application uses App-V/Click To Run technology.
So after installing it, many users face a problem with free space on their disk, as the new Office uses several GB for its installation.
If you have the same problem, simply follow the instructions below.
We will describe how you can free up space on your disk after installing Office 2016 Click To Run (CTR).
The issue is caused by Office 2016 Click To Run (CTR), which downloads a large volume of updates, e.g. approximately 1GB per update, without deleting the files after the installation is complete.
To free up disk space after installing Office 2016 Click To Run (CTR), do the following:
In File Explorer, open the following folder:
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\ClickToRun
There, you will find all the files that were created recently (in the last few months at least). Keep the UserData folder, MachineData, and the DeploymentConfig files.
Delete all the rest that are very old and have probably been replaced by newer updates.
This will help you free up several GBs on your disk.
Please note that you should use your own judgment when cleaning this folder.
Create a backup, if required, of the files you are deleting, or simply move them to see if Office 2016 runs properly.
