Kaspersky Internet Security was the only one among 15 security products to block every attempt at “infection” during the 360 Assessment & Certification Programme test , conducted by MRG Effitas , an independent testing and research organization. Thus , Kaspersky Lab ’s solution was the only one to receive a first-level certification.
The test consisted of two stages. In the first, the behavior of security products was analyzed when we had to deal with urgent threats. In the second stage, the effectiveness of “treatment” of an operating system after “infection” was assessed. The tests were carried out using samples from various “families” of malicious software, such as banking Trojans, ransomware, potentially unwanted programs, etc. Kaspersky Internet Security detected all 540 threats and prevented the penetration of any malicious software into the system.
MRG Effitas leverages a methodology that mimics typical user behavior. Researchers start by following a malicious link to a computer protected by a security solution.
Then, they download an “infected” executable file, save it to the hard drive, and finally, try to “run” it. After that, the product is given time to “heal” the system and deal with the consequences of the “infection.”.
Because home users do not typically leave their computers running all day, the system is restarted after 12 hours.
To receive first-level certification, products had to block all attempts at “infection.” Solutions that were able to detect any threat before the first computer reboot or during the reboot received second-level certification.
In the test, 10 out of 15 solutions failed to protect the system from all the malware used by the researchers. Four solutions were unable to prevent the system from being “infected”, but they managed to fix the situation. Only Kaspersky Internet Security was able to prevent every attempt at “infection”.
“Once a malicious application enters a computer, it can be activated at any time. It can then encrypt data, steal confidential information, or allow remote access to the system.
Even if a security solution detects this activity after the malware has begun its work, the damage may already be done. Therefore, it is important to address any attack as soon as possible – and preferably before any infection attempt can succeed.
"Theresults of this test show that Kaspersky Lab's technology can effectively protect users by preventing system 'infection'," said Timur Biyachuev, Director of Anti-Malware Researchat Kaspersky Lab.
Kaspersky Internet Security is part of Kaspersky - Internet Security — Multi–Device , the company's multi platform solution that protects users from the most immediate threats on the Internet.
It integrates tools that combat ransomware, financial threats, and many other digital dangers. Finally, it has technology that can detect and block attempts to infect the system at an early stage.
