The Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate launches an account on the social networking website TWITTER under the name "cyberalertGR"
Citizens will be informed immediately and in real time about current risks and threats related to the subject of the Service and safe surfing on the internet
The Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate, within the framework of the platform of innovative actions it has developed for communication with the public, proceeded to create a modern digital communication channel, through the social networking website TWITTER, called "cyberalertGR". 
Taking into account the evolution of cybercrime and its impact on all aspects of society, it becomes clear that there is an immediate need for effective information to the public (children, parents, the business world, internet users) in real time on issues that are of current to the Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate, and in particular safe surfing on the internet and the risks that lurk therein.
The main objective of the operation of the TWITTER account called "cyberalertGR" is to immediately and in real time inform citizens about new risks and trends in the field of cybercrime that arise daily on the internet. Taking advantage of the immediacy of communication offered by TWITTER, "cyberalertGR" will post on a daily basis brief updates on burning current issues, which are relevant to the responsibilities of the Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate, in real time.
The aim is to protect citizens from risks for which substantial and rapid information is required in order to prevent cybercrime and to protect users on a personal level, as well as to save large sums of money that are transferred within seconds on the internet all over the world. At the same time, users are given the opportunity to immediately inform the Directorate for the Prosecution of Electronic Crime in the event of a danger or threat on the internet.
It is noted that the communication channel via TWITTER is a dynamic and interactive tool, which offers immediacy, ease of management, brevity in updates, while people who do not have specialized knowledge can use it easily.
