Windows RT like Vista: Microsoft retires the operating system

It seems Microsoft has no plans to invest in Windows RT.

Windows Vista is pretty much known as Microsoft's biggest operating system failure, but it looks like another product will soon claim the title.nokia lumia 2520 windows rt
Windows RT, which first launched in October 2012 alongside the Surface RT, is likely to be discontinued in the near future. Microsoft has officially canceled the OS from the Lumia 2520 tablet.

Let's see what happened.

Windows RT's performance has always been below expectations, and despite being available on Microsoft's Surface RT tablets, the operating system was heavily criticized by users and experts who expected a similar experience to Windows.

So, despite the investments it made in Windows RT, Microsoft recently decided to discontinue the Surface 2, which was the only tablet still in production that ran on that operating system.

According to a report by PCM, the company also quietly discontinued the Lumia 2520, a Nokia tablet that ran Windows RT, for the exact same reason.

Windows RT clearly has no future in Microsoft's lineup, and there's no doubt that the company is looking for ways to get rid of it as soon as possible.

But there's no easy way to do it, as so many customers have already bought a tablet running Windows RT, so the company is forced to hold onto it until Windows 10 is officially released.
