Despite being very active on Twitter, often revealing their personal details, it appears that at least one member of Lizard Squad appeared on-camera in an interview.
Lizard Squad carried out a massive denial-of-service (DoS) attack on Xbox Live and PlayStation on Christmas Day, disrupting connectivity for millions of users.
Over the weekend, Sky News released a video of an interview with a man named Ryan, who is alleged to be part of the Lizard Squad. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that “Ryan” is Julius Kivimäki, and is from Finland.
The hacker said the group currently has access to around 100,000 Linux servers, which allows them to carry out large-scale attacks, such as those on the Xbox Live and PS networks. Kivimäki revealed that the Christmas Day attack was “essentially carried out by three people.”
According to him, the Lizard Squad has three or four members, but there are others outside the group who help out from time to time.
Security researcher Brian Krebs, with a publication, tries to expose Lizard Squad, presenting very interesting information.
For example, it states that “In a post on Hackforums that Omari started on December 26th, using the name “Vinnie” he mentions that he was given vouchers from Megaupload, and wonders if Hackforums rules allow them to be sold.”
