The following article is for those who don't like Internet Explorer. Specifically, it's for those who use Internet Explorer only to download Firefox or Chromeafter a fresh install of Windows. 
Perhaps you already know that you can download your favorite browser using the built-in FTP support of Windows without having to open Internet Explorer.
To access Mozilla's FTP server, open a folder in Windows Explorer, and type the following address in the address bar of Windows Explorer and press Enter.
ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/latest/win32/el/
Now copy the .exe installation file of Firefox to your computer. To download it, drag and drop the file onto your desktop, or right-click and use the command “Save As.”
Download Firefox via the command line
You can also download Firefox using the FTP command-line utility of Windows.
Open a command prompt window and type the following command to connect to Mozilla's FTP server:
ftp ftp.mozilla.org
Type anonymous for the username, and then leave the password field blank and press Enter.
Use the following command to navigate to the directory containing the latest version of Firefox:
cd pub/firefox/releases/latest/win32/el/
Next, type the following command to view the list of files that exist in the server folder:
ls
To download the file you are interested in, use the following command:
get “Firefox Setup 33.1.1.exe”
Replace the file name above with the name of the current version – it will be displayed with the ls command.
The Firefox .exe will be downloaded to your user folder at C:\Users\your name.
