Major Greek websites are reproducing a hoaxthatstarted with huzlers.com, a site known for its “reliability.” Of course, the information is not confirmed by NASA.
The breaking news publication states:
“NASA confirmed that the Earth will experience 6 days of almost total darkness from Tuesday the 16th to Monday the 22nd of December 2014.
The world will remain, during these six days, without sunlight due to a solar storm, whose dust and space debris it will cause will be so much that it will result in the blocking of 90% of sunlight.
The announcement was made by NASA Administrator Charles Bolden, who asked everyone to remain calm. This will be the result of a solar storm, the largest in the last 250 years, which will last 216 hours.
Although the six days of darkness are very close, officials say that the earth will not face any serious problems, since the six days of darkness cannot cause major damage to anything.
«We will rely only on artificial light for the six days, which is not something that worries us», says NASA scientist Earl Godoy.”
Some of the websites in question realized their mistake and withdrew or corrected the original text.
However, as it seems, there are some who not only haven't realized it but are promoting it on Facebook!
So beware of websites that chase clicks and do not confirm the news they publish. If you have already shared the article, warn your friends.
