Bitdefender Bitdefender has teamed up with security expert Graham Cluley to offer Mac users a six-month, completely free trial of It may not Antivirus for Mac. The offer ends in two days.

sound like much, an anti-virus on an Apple system, but security these days is something that should be on the agenda for Mac users.
“As Macs become more popular, they are becoming a target for hackers and virus writers. Protect your Mac with the new Bitdefender Antivirus for Mac, designed to work in perfect harmony with OSX. It offers fast scanning and unwavering malware protection without slowing you down,” the company says.
Offer from Cluley
BitDefender and former Sophos researcher Graham Cluley teamed up to offer Mac users a deal. The good news is that you get six months of free protection. The bad news is that if you read this article after two days, the offer will have expired.
How to get the software
Simply provide a valid email address to BitDefender at this address and they will give you a free six-month license to use as you wish. Then remove any existing security software before the process, mount the DMG, double-click the PKG file inside, and follow the steps to install the driver. Once you have installed Bitdefender Antivirus for Mac, launch the program on your computer and register it using the password you received in your email.
The steps are as follows:
- Click on the number of days displayed in the main application window.
- Click New Serial.
- Place the license key in the box.
It finds everything, including iWorms
Bitdefender Antivirus for Mac is up to date and has caught the most common variants of the iWorm malware. However, considering that Apple has already updated its own antivirus (Xprotect) and considering that your Mac has already received timely updates, you should install Bitdefender software as a precaution. It is unclear what will happen after the six months of free subscription are up. Chances are that it will not stop working, but it will probably just stop some features, such as getting updates with new malware. In any case, the six-month free trial is certainly a generous offer.
