At the beginning of the month (08/09/2014) we had announced the upcoming changes to MSN . At the moment the changes to the company's portal are visible in Greece as well. With a new format very close to Microsoft's new style, MSN brings you the latest news from around the world. It is connected to all Microsoft services, but also to major social networks, making the page quite interactive.
The new MSN is still under a preview subdomain, which means we'll likely see changes before the final release. The subdomain doesn't use a secure HTTPS connection. But that's not the point of this post. Please read the MSN privacy policy here.
According to the company, we will see personalized ads, something for which it has accused Google several times of tracking its users to serve targeted ads. Of course, the company's publication below completely justifies the display of targeted ads and is probably looking for suckers.
Many of the services you use are free thanks to ads. Also, we work hard to ensure the ads you see are safe and relevant to your interests. These are personalized ads.
However, you have control and here you can make the ad selection that is right for you.
Reading the above text, a question arose. Which of the services offered by Microsoft are free? Since all of its operating systems and applications are not open source, but on the contrary are sold and at quite a steep price, is Microsoft 's statement formulated with enough audacity? Or are we biased?
Perhaps the company thinks that MSN is a free service and that's why there are ads. A company of this scale with such revenue from its product sales could not actually provide a truly free service?
After all, the Google that is being accused also has free open source software and operating systems.
We would be happy to have your opinions in the comments.
