iCloud security measures with a time delay

The hack that resulted in the leak of celebrity photos led Apple to implement a stricter security policy by delivering push notifications to users using iCloud.

Apple Tim Cook CEO announced some of the new measures on Friday in an interview with the Wall Street Journal and said they would be implemented in two weeks.

At the beginning of the month, if someone logged into iCloud from a new device they would not receive any notification.

However, with the new measures that have been implemented, at least partially at this time, the account owner will receive a notification if someone has accessed the service from web browsers.

Apple's warning email is pretty clear and states " Apple ID was used to sign in to iCloud through a web browser."

It took at least ten minutes for the email to receive the notification that Apple ID had been used. That's more than enough time for an attacker to make changes to our account.

You can try it yourself to see the "immediacy" of Apple. Of course, if this actually happens to anyone, they should change their account password immediately.
