Hanx Writer, an application that gives the user the feeling of writing on a typewriter, developed by actor Tom Hanks, is number 1 in the Apple Store.
The actor loves typewriters and new technology and decided to combine his two great loves in an iPad app.
"Melodic" keys on the touch screen
Hanks has stated that he was inspired by the enchanting experience of typing on a typewriter, the clicks and the characteristic "ding" that the typewriter makes when it reaches the end of the line.
The app became a hit, and Tom Hanks himself admitted in a message on Twitter - from his home in Antiparos where he spends his summers - that the sound the typewriter makes, "bang-bang, clack clack clack, pukapookapookapooka" - as he himself said - is like music to some people's ears.
The app is available in three versions, has a rating of 4.5, and many users find the experience of writing on something that reminds them of a typewriter satisfying.
