The iPhone 6's "sapphire" screen

The iPhone 6 will be flexible and will withstand stabs and scratches from keys, as revealed by video

The screen of the next iPhone will be made of sapphire, if the authenticity of the screen starring in a new video for Apple's new model, the iPhone 6, is confirmed in September.

Apple is said to be phasing out Gorilla Glass, the tough, scratch-resistant glass from British company Corning. Sapphire is the second hardest material after diamond. Although it remains to be seen whether it will have the light transmittance required to produce bright colors as a display or whether it will require more power to do so, rumors have the American giant making… sapphire designs.

Sapphire is "invulnerable"

The protagonist of the video and technology blogger Mark Brownlee, during the visual material, subjects the screen (only) of a 4.7-inch iPhone 6 to continuous endurance tests, from which it "escapes" literally intact. He states that Apple will source the precious stone from GT Advanced Technologies and notes that sapphire is already used on the front of luxury watches and in camera lenses.

The iPhone that will succeed the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C is said to be released for the second time in two versions: the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and the 5.5-inch iPhone Air. Its official announcement is set for early September and its release, at least in North America and China, at the end of the same month.
