A Greek cyber-fraudster was caught at El. Venizelos Airport, literally in the act of paragliding, when he tried to fly to Canada by paying for his tickets with a stolen credit card.

He was identified as the perpetrator as, as the investigation revealed, he stole a private individual's credit card details and made illegal purchases of airline tickets
The Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate has filed a regular procedure case against a 49-year-old Greek national, who is accused of fraud by complicity via the internet.
The case was investigated in the context of utilizing online posts regarding cases of theft of credit card details from citizens and following a relevant complaint to the Cybercrime Prosecution Service.
According to the complaint, an unknown perpetrator made online purchases (specifically, airline tickets) using the credit card details of the victim, a 57-year-old Greek citizen.
The digital online investigation, which was carried out after the lifting of the secrecy of communications and in collaboration with the competent companies and internet service providers, located the electronic traces and digital data of the perpetrator, while his illegal action was identified.
Specifically, it emerged that the perpetrator had stolen the 57-year-old's credit card details and then proceeded to purchase airline tickets online, destined for the United States of America and Canada.
The perpetrator was located by police officers of the Cybercrime Investigation Directorate at Eleftherios Venizelos Airport, while he was trying to travel to Canada, using the tickets in question. He is a 49-year-old Greek national, against whom a relevant case has been filed.
It is noted that in parallel with the development of this case, the Cybercrime Directorate is investigating a number of complaints concerning similar incidents of illegal purchase of airline tickets through stolen credit card details.
