Asus has announced two new motherboards, the AM1M-A and AM1I-A. The new mobos will support the latest APUs (Accelerated Processing Units) Athlon and Sempron.
Both are excellent choices for building low-cost desktop PCs and home-theater PCs, as they provide high computing power, DirectX 11.1 graphics, and Fusion controller hubs – despite their small size.
They contain Asus 5X Protection, a combination of the company's technologies to protect against short circuits, power surges, and similar events.
As for connectivity, there are four USB ports and two USB 3.0 ports. The ATX has one PCI-Express 2.0 port, while the mini-ATX AM1I-A has a PCIe X4 port.
The video outputs include dual-link DVI, HDMI and VGA, while they have slots for two DDR3 RAM and two SATA 6Gb/s for connecting storage media.
They also include a 3-channel audio system, a gigabit Ethernet port, and PS/2 ports for keyboard and mouse.
Finally, we must emphasize that both mobos introduce the UEFI BIOS, which in combination with the Asus control panel, AI Suite 3, enables higher performance, stability and efficiency.
